Born in 1850, Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel was the youngest of ten children. He left home as a young boy and was eventually taken in by Reverend Dan Call, who taught him the art of whiskey making.

In 1866, Jack established the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, registering it as the nation's first distillery. The iconic square bottle was introduced in 1895, setting the whiskey apart from its competitors.

Jack never married and had no children, so he eventually passed his distillery to his favorite nephew, Lem Motlow, who guided the company through Prohibition and beyond.

Today, every drop of Jack Daniel's is still made in Lynchburg, Tennessee, using the same time-honored methods that Jack himself established over 150 years ago.

The distillery continues to be a place where tradition matters, where the old way is still the right way, and where quality can never be compromised.
